Day Six

While Grandma stayed home at the condo for her daily walk, the rest of us ventured into Honolulu after breakfast to hike up Diamond Head. I made the mistake of telling Joshua that we were going to hike a volcano, thinking that that would get him excited about the outing. The opposite actually happened - he cried and got very upset because he did not want to hike through lava!

Despite the rocky start we all made it up to the top. It helped that we had time to fuel up at the bottom on water and fresh pineapple from a food stand in the parking lot (and we all realized that pineapple would never taste as good again until we were back in Hawaii). The views of the ocean and city and the crater were incredible and the promise of shave ice when we got to the bottom kept the boys going on the trip back down.

After the hike we drove back to the condo and went to dinner at the Marriott beach grille in front of Lagoon 3. The sunset was beautiful and we all had a great meal (including more fresh pineapple ;)
